The program freezes during scan.

Let it run few extra hours and watch the progress. If this will not help, enlarge your swap file to 4 GB and try again. If this will not help too, next your step should be to map several virtual partitions on your drive and scan them, with this technique you'll be able to avoid scanning of problem area that makes the product freeze.

How to map virtual partition and let the product complete the scan?

For example, the product freezes at about 60% of the progress. Go to Menu-Drives-Map Virtual Partition, select your device and click Max to get total sectors count. If you know that the problem area is near 60%, set Starting sector as 0 and Size in sectors at 55% of Max value and try to scan the virtual partition. If this will not help, use 50% or less. When you'll recover your data, map another partition over the rest of the drive, in our example - set Starting value as 65% of Max and Size in sectors as Max minus Starting value. If you'll find another problem place within second virtual partition, map another two partitions over it.

What is swap file? How to enlarge it to allow more memory for the product?

Swap file is the special temporary file of your OS allows you to increase your memory amount by using some space from your hard drive. If you want, to change it, open google.com and try Change swap file size and the name and version of your OS. For example, Change swap file size Windows XP . You'll find may pages with step-by-step instructions.

How can I help you resolve my problem?

Describe your problem in your initial message with detail. How did you lost your files? What's the type of your files? What's the type and size of your drive? What's the problem with our product, what's the error message? What did you try and what have you got? If possible, step-by-step in screenshots. And if possible, add the log from dxdiag: click Start, select Run, type dxdiag and press Enter, then click to Save the information and select the folder to save the log.

What is a screenshot? How to make it?

Screenshot is a copy of the whole screen of your PC saved to image file. It contains everything you see on the display and can help us to find many necessary details. To make it, just press Print Screen key on the keyboard, the picture below shows where the button is placed:

When you click Print Screen, there will be no any changes, but the copy of the whole screen will be copied to clipboard. All you need to do now is to open MS Paint or MS Word and do Menu-Edit-Paste to paste the image from clipboard to the document. Then you can save the document and send us by email.

How can I get the log from your product to send you?

Right after the error or right before it, open the Menu-Commands-Show log and click Save, you'll be asked where to save the log.

I still can't find my files, or I can find them, but there is no preview, and the files can't be opened after recovery, as they're damaged.

Try to find your files in virtual folder Recovered Files. You can see this folder in our product when scan is completed. The files in this folder are sorted by type and without original names and folder structure, but you can expect to find your file there with better recovery results.
