Is 1st NTFS Recovery the Right Product for You?

1st NTFS Recovery is a high-precision and extremely specialized tool for maximum data recovery on corrupted NTFS partitions. While an NTFS-targeted data recovery solution provides a great deal better service than general-use data recovery tools, it must be used on the compatible NTFS file system for optimum results. Determine if your system is compatible by reading through the following questions.

What is your operating system?

Only Windows NT, Windows 2000 and 2003 Server, Windows XP and Windows Vista, as well as the currently pre-release versions of Windows 2008 Server support NTFS file system. All of the above operating systems are fully supported by 1st NTFS Recovery.

Note: If you are using Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows ME, you cannot use 1st NTFS Recovery as these older operating systems do not support NTFS disks.

What file system was used?

While NTFS is the default file system for Windows NT, 2000, 2003, XP, Vista and 2008, the use of any of the listed operating systems does not automatically guarantee that the corrupted disk or partition actually used NTFS. In many cases, an older FAT16 or FAT32 file system might have been used for legacy or compatibility purposes. Make sure that your drive or partition was formatted to use NTFS before attempting to recover data with 1st NTFS Recovery.

Was it s hard drive or a removable media?

While most hard drives nowadays are formatted with NTFS, the absolute majority of external media are formatted to use FAT16 or FAT32. This includes most memory cards such as SD, MMC or CompactFlash, USB flash drives, floppy disks, and rewriteable CDs and DVDs which use a different kind of file system. Many external Ethernet drives use yet another file system that is not quite compatible with Windows without the Ethernet interface. As a rule of thumb, approach the removable storage with extreme caution.
