Part 2. How to perform RAID data recovery using RAID Wizard.

RAID created with RAID Wizard is not visible outside of RAID Recovery, as it's just reels to access your data. If you've created virtual RAID with RAID Wizard, now you need to scan the RAID, find your files and recover them.

What should I do to perform RAID data recovery?

RAID is the way to store the data on several drives at once, but it's not the file system. PC access the RAID via RAID controller like usual hard drive, so it can be formatted in one of typical file system. Our DiskWizard from RAID Recovery supports RAID data recovery of NTFS, FAT or Linux EXT2/EXT3 file systems, and there's also fast Uneraser-like scan mode, if you really sure that your file system is not damaged. DiskWizard uses two methods of RAID data recovery:

Scanning of your file system to find the files

Scanning of the drive surface to find the files not mentioned in file system, this is useful if you're looking for the files of selected file type, or when file system can't be recovered.

Easy steps to use Disk Wizard in RAID data recovery.

Click to the icon of the RAID you've compiled with RAID Wizard. You'll see the Disk Wizard introduction Window. Click Next to select the wizard mode.

Here you can select Full or Fast method of RAID data recovery, and file system if you've selected Full Recovery. Make sure you've selected the correct file system to get original file names and folder structure. If you will not get your folder structure when the wizard is completed, try another file system. When you click Next, the Wizard will start.

Make sure you have enough free memory to fit the information about all the found files. Enlarge your swap file to 4 GB or more if needed. Click Next when the Wizard is completed.

Now you'll see the list of recovered files and folders. You can select the file and check the preview. We support previews for more than 200 file types, so if your file contains video, it should be played in preview player, if it's picture - you should see complete and full-size picture without any artifacts.

You can also note the Recovered Files folder which can be seen only within our product. In RAID data recovery this folder contains files recovered by direct scan of the surface. Such files doesn't have original name and folder structure, but if you have problems with recovery of the file from the pace where it should be, you can try to find it in virtual folder Recovered Files with original name but with better recovery results. This helps when the file system can't be recovered correctly, as the direct scan of drive space doesn't use file system at all.

When you found all your files, just select them and click Recovery to finish RAID data recovery, you'll be asked for destination folder to save the found files. There will be also the option to burn the files to CD or upload to FTP.

DiskWizard can be also used with Non-RAID drives or with active RAID volumes, but it's always better to disable RAID and rebuild it with RAID Wizard.
